Headache Pathogenesis: Monoamines, Neuropeptides, Purines, and Nitric Oxide (Frontiers in Headache Research)
June 19, 2008
In this volume, leading international experts explore the role of several messenger molecules in the pathogenesis of migraine, tension-type headache, and cluster headache. Coverage includes extensive studies of these molecules and their receptors in the cranial blood vessels, as well as measurements in patients during actual migraine and other headache attacks. The findings presented are of vital importance for the development of new antimigraine drugs targeted to specific receptors.A major portion of the book examines new evidence that nitric oxide plays a crucial role in migraine and other vascular headaches. Close attention is also given to the involvement of amines, amino acids, and neuropeptides–particularly substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide–in vascular headaches. Other chapters focus on messenger molecules that are involved in the sensitization of nociceptors. buy from here…

The Headache Prevention Cookbook: Eating Right to Prevent Migraines and Other Headaches
June 16, 2008
If you’re one of the 50 million Americans who suffer from headaches, you can eliminate the pain entirely just by changing the way you eat. A headache sufferer himself, Dr. David Marks treats thousands of patients a year at his internationally known headache clinic. The recipes in this book can help you ward off headaches while ensuring that you eat well in the bargain.
Customer Review: A good start
I thought this book was a great starting place when trying to eliminate migraine triggers. As other reviewers have said, the recipies do lack some things as far as being really healthy or having some triggers in the recipies. But it is a great starting point. Besides, most people don’t react to ALL the triggers.
It was refreshing to find things I could eat in place of a list of what I could not eat.
Customer Review: Not Helpful
After reading Heal Your Headache by Dr. Buchholz, I was anxious to find a good headache-prevention cookbook. But I need a cookbook in which ALL the recipes are free of the commonly known food triggers. Isn’t that the point? Well, this book has many recipes with known headache triggers. Apparently we are expected to know which foods are triggers for us and to then alter the recipes accordingly. Well, I’m tired of having to alter recipes! That’s what I have to do all the time with regular cookbooks. I thought that this cookbook would be different, but I was wrong. I appreciate that some food triggers are avoided here, but what about all the commonly known triggers that ARE in these recipes, such as lemon juice, orange juice, and onions? I bought the book, tried 3-4 recipes (none particularly good), then threw the book away. buy from here…

Cluster Headaches: Treatment and Relief for Cluster, Cluster Migraine, and Recurring Eyestab Pain
June 16, 2008
Customer Review: cluster headaches by seymour diamond, md
quote:”treatment.relief for …..” This should never again be offered on Amazon (you are too far above this type of lit.)
It consists of an intro, a few paragraphs (only a few sentences each) to describe a headache…the rest of the entire content of this so called “help book”, consists of list upon list of what other people have said about or how they described their headaches. When he says”from the personal experiences of ” who were these people? “provided to encourage..” he needs a ghost writer, people with headaches who buy a book penned by a “MD”, you want their opinion, not what so and so says about
their heads. They look for the book that will give encouragement in the form of offering viable, scientificly
researched data that will help them, not just give you the sense…move over, there are plenty of others out there with headaches and read what they say.
Sorry, but it was, for an avid reader of above average intelligence, a VERY dissapointing book. I am sure the author must have much to say that could help the buyer and sufferer, it is well hidden within the book, if so. Not that he/she should give up, but please find a competent assistant, and write your own views. Thank you for giving me a chance to review one of Amazons books.
Customer Review: Still waiting for answers.
This book touts “Treatment and Relief for Cluster, Cluster Migraine, and Recurring Eye-Stab Pain,” but gives little clinical information. Instead, this book offers a few paragraphs of medical observation, followed by dozens of statements made by unidentified sufferers; covering symptoms, triggers, treatment and relief (which Cluster Headache sufferers know is still impossible). I’ve been waiting years for conclusive information on this excruciating condition. Reading page after page of complaints similar to my own nearly triggered another cluster headache! “Three stars” because I finally saw my crazy symptoms in print and know I’m not alone. Buy this book for emotional support, or to educate others about the condition. Don’t buy it to be wowed by recent medical insight and advances. buy from here…
